For the last 44 years, Dégagé Ministries has provided responsive programming to the hundreds of homeless, poverty-stricken, mentally ill and disabled individuals in the core of Grand Rapids.  Every day, 400-500 individuals come to Dégagé Ministries to find assistance with immediate or long-term needs.  Through innovative and dignified services, Dégagé Ministries endeavors to meet the unique needs of persons in poverty through services such as meals, hygiene facilities, referrals, and overnight shelter for women.  The mission of Dégagé Ministries is "to reflect the love of Christ to all who come through our doors by building relationships and offering programs that foster dignity and respect."

Dégagé Ministries celebrates the major victories made by individuals who have found new jobs, secured housing, or recovered from substance abuse.  They also celebrate with those who have made crucial steps towards these victories; those who have decided to receive help for mental illness and those who are gaining tools to become self-sufficient.  While assisting each individual, we aim to improve self-esteem and also facilitate spiritual depth.  The main programs at Dégagé include:

·       Overnight shelter for women in crisis

·       Low-cost and free meals

·       Hygiene facilities such as showers and laundry

·       Locker to safely store belongings

·       State Identification Program

·       Supportive Services to meet housing, employment and other goals
